How to Buy Crypto with a Card

Welcome and you’re not alone. Buying crypto for the first time feels strange, but it’s quick and gets much easier after your first purchase. Don’t worry, this guide walks you through easy, trusted options so you can buy one of the coins we accept on Bytgem: BTC, DOGE, LTC, ETH, and USDT (ERC-20 only).

Important: Bytgem only accepts deposits in BTC, DOGE, LTC, ETH, and USDT (ERC-20). If you buy USDT, make sure you use the ERC-20 (Ethereum) version — not TRC20, BEP20, or others — unless specifically instructed.

A few calm, practical tips before you start

  • Start small. Make a small first purchase (e.g., $5–$25) to get comfortable and to test withdrawal to your Bytgem deposit address.
  • KYC is normal. Most onramps will ask for ID (photo + selfie). It’s standard and helps keep your account secure.
  • Enable 2FA on the exchange/wallet you use. It’s a tiny step that protects your funds.
  • Double-check the network every time you send USDT — Bytgem accepts USDT ERC-20 only. Sending USDT via another network can permanently lose funds.
  • Be patient with confirmations. ETH/ERC-20 moves fast but may need 10–30 minutes depending on network fee; BTC confirmations can take longer. Always wait for the confirmations listed by Bytgem before expecting credit.

Quick overview of the easiest ways (short)

  1. Coinbase — easiest for total beginners, very friendly UI.
  2. Binance — cheaper fees and many payment options, slightly more advanced UI.
  3. Kraken — trusted, good compliance; card buys supported in many regions.
  4. MoonPay (mobile) — super simple mobile onramp; used inside many wallets or standalone app.
  5. MetaMask / Trust Wallet (in-app buy) — buys inside your non-custodial wallet using MoonPay/Transak integration for quick delivery to your own wallet.
  6. HodlHodl / Paxful — P2P platforms for more privacy (higher fraud risk; use with caution).

1) Coinbase — easiest for total beginners

Why use it: Very user-friendly, strong support, clear UI. Good for first time buyers.

Step-by-step

  1. Create a Coinbase account and complete identity verification (photo ID + selfie).
  2. Add a debit/credit card under Payment Methods (cards accepted widely but check fees).
  3. From the dashboard choose Buy / Sell → select the coin (BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, or USDT if available).
  4. Enter the amount (USD / EUR / etc.) and confirm payment (note the fee shown).
  5. Once purchased, tap Send. Paste the deposit address you get from your Bytgem wallet (double-check the coin and network). For USDT, make sure you select USDT (ERC-20) in Coinbase and copy the ERC-20 address.
  6. Send a small test first (e.g., $10), confirm arrival on Bytgem, then send the remainder.

Notes

  • Coinbase fees are higher for card purchases than bank transfer.
  • Coinbase will often show an estimated arrival time and network fee before you confirm.

2) Binance — lower fees, more payment rails

Why use it: Cheaper on fees, multiple onramp partners, supports many countries.

Step-by-step

  1. Sign up and complete KYC.
  2. Go to Buy CryptoCredit/Debit Card (or Instant Buy).
  3. Choose coin (BTC / ETH / LTC / DOGE / USDT). If buying USDT, choose ERC-20 version after buy if there is a network option.
  4. Complete card payment (Binance will show fees and which network they will send on).
  5. Withdraw from Binance to your Bytgem deposit address: WalletFiat and SpotWithdraw → choose the coin and paste your Bytgem address. Select network (for USDT pick ERC-20). Confirm.
  6. Again, do a small test withdrawal first.

Notes

  • Binance sometimes offers lower-fee fast buy partners.
  • Beware: sometimes Binance defaults USDT withdraw network to BEP20 (BSC). Always explicitly choose ERC-20 if sending USDT to Bytgem.

3) Kraken — trusted exchange, good compliance

Why use it: Trusted long-term exchange, good compliance and security, card purchases supported.

Step-by-step

  1. Create a Kraken account → complete verification.
  2. Go to Buy Crypto → choose card payment if enabled for your country.
  3. Buy BTC/ETH/LTC/DOGE/USDT (if available).
  4. Withdraw to your Bytgem wallet: FundingWithdrawCrypto → pick coin and paste Bytgem address. Confirm network (ERC-20 for USDT).
  5. Small test first.

Notes

  • Kraken may require verification depending on region and payment method.
  • Fees and processing times are shown before confirmation.

4) MoonPay (mobile) — super simple onramp (also used by wallets)

Why use it: Very easy mobile flow, good for those who want fastest simple path to crypto without navigating an exchange.

Step-by-step (MoonPay app or in-wallet)

  1. Install MoonPay app (or use MoonPay through MetaMask / Trust Wallet in-app buy).
  2. Choose the coin (BTC / ETH / LTC / DOGE / USDT if supported). If USDT is supported, choose ERC-20.
  3. Enter card details and ID if requested. MoonPay shows fees and time.
  4. Enter the destination address — paste your Bytgem deposit address directly. MoonPay will send to that address after purchase, so double-check it carefully.
  5. Complete purchase and wait for confirmations.

Notes

  • MoonPay fees can be higher than exchanges but the UX is very simple. Good for the first $10–$50 buy.
  • MoonPay is commonly embedded as an onramp inside wallets like MetaMask or Trust Wallet. When used inside a wallet, it deposits directly to your non-custodial wallet.

5) MetaMask & Trust Wallet — buy inside your wallet (recommended if you prefer self-custody)

Why use it: Deposit directly to your own non-custodial wallet (you control private keys). Good if you want to keep funds off exchanges.

Two main paths

  • (A) In-wallet buy (MoonPay / Transak integration) — easiest: you buy via third-party and the coin lands in your MetaMask/Trust Wallet.
  • (B) Buy on an exchange and withdraw to your wallet — more control, usually cheaper fees.

(A) In-wallet buy (quick)

  1. Open MetaMask or Trust Wallet mobile.
  2. Tap Buy → choose provider (MoonPay / Transak etc.).
  3. Choose coin and amount, complete card payment and ID. The purchased crypto will arrive in your wallet address.
  4. From your wallet, send to your Bytgem deposit address (again confirm network for USDT = ERC-20).

(B) Exchange → withdraw to wallet

  1. Buy coin on Coinbase/Binance/Kraken.
  2. Withdraw to your MetaMask / Trust Wallet address.
  3. From your own wallet, send to Bytgem.

Notes

  • If you use MetaMask, make sure your wallet is set to the Ethereum Mainnet when sending ERC-20 tokens.
  • In-wallet buys often have higher fees but are super convenient for newcomers.

6) HodlHodl & Paxful — P2P for more privacy (use with caution)

Why mention them: They are P2P marketplaces that can offer more private buys (non-custodial escrow). Good for users seeking more privacy, but higher risk and complexity.

Important cautions

  • Higher fraud risk — always use escrow, read seller ratings, and do trades with highly rated sellers.
  • KYC may still be required for many sellers.
  • Price premiums and payment method limits are common.
  • Do a small test trade first.

Network & USDT caution — please read carefully

  • Bytgem accepts USDT ERC-20 only. If you send USDT on TRON (TRC20), BSC (BEP20), or other networks, your funds may be lost permanently.
  • Many wallets/exchanges default to the cheapest network for USDT (e.g., BSC). Always choose ERC-20 on withdrawal.
  • ERC-20 transfers require ETH for gas. If you’re sending USDT from a non-ETH wallet, ensure it supports ERC-20 and you have ETH for gas.
